Most international visitors arrive via Dushanbe International Airport, with regional flights connecting to several Central Asian and Middle Eastern cities.

Tajikistan uses the Tajikistani Somoni (TJS). Cash remains the preferred method of payment outside larger cities, although ATMs are available in Dushanbe.

Many nationalities can obtain an eVisa for tourism. Requirements vary depending on citizenship and travel plans, particularly for the Pamir region, where an additional permit may be required.

The best time to visit is from June to September, when mountain roads are generally open and weather conditions are most suitable for trekking and overland travel.

Accommodation includes comfortable city hotels, mountain guesthouses, family homestays, and small lodges that provide a warm welcome in remote communities.

Tajik culture is known for its hospitality and strong family traditions. Modest dress is appreciated, particularly in rural areas, and travellers should always ask permission before photographing local people.
