Arrival in Chengdu

Upon arrival in Chengdu, your friendly English-speaking guide will warmly welcome you at the airport before transferring you by private vehicle to your hotel in the city centre. Sit back and enjoy your first glimpse of Sichuan's vibrant capital as you make your way to your accommodation. 

After checking in, the remainder of the day is at your leisure. You may choose to relax after your journey or take a leisurely stroll around the lively Chunxi Road shopping district, where modern boutiques, local restaurants, and bustling streets offer the perfect introduction to Chengdu. Nearby Taikoo Li is also a great place to explore, blending contemporary architecture with traditional Sichuan-style courtyards and an excellent selection of cafés and restaurants.

This evening, you may wish to sample Chengdu's famous Sichuan cuisine, from authentic hotpot to delicious local snacks, before returning to the hotel for a restful overnight stay in preparation for the adventures ahead.

Leshan
Leshan Giant Buddha & Local Flavours

After breakfast, travel south by private vehicle to Leshan, home to the magnificent Leshan Giant Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's largest stone Buddha statue. Carved into a towering cliff at the confluence of three rivers during the Tang Dynasty, this remarkable monument stands 71 metres tall and has watched over the region for more than 1,200 years. 

Experience the Giant Buddha from two unique perspectives. Begin with a scenic river cruise, where you'll enjoy panoramic views of the colossal statue rising dramatically above the riverbanks. Afterwards, follow the hillside walking trails to admire the intricate craftsmanship up close and appreciate the immense scale of this extraordinary masterpiece.

At lunchtime, indulge in a selection of Leshan's famous local delicacies. Sample the popular Bobo Chicken, featuring chilled chicken skewers coated in fragrant spicy sesame sauce, savour the comforting flavours of Qiaojiao Beef, a slow-cooked beef soup served with tender slices of beef, and finish with a bowl of Glutinous Rice Wine Soup, a traditional lightly sweet fermented rice dessert enjoyed by locals. 

In the afternoon, return to Chengdu by private vehicle. The evening is yours to relax or explore the city's vibrant streets at your own pace before returning to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou by High-Speed Train

After breakfast, transfer to the railway station and board a first-class high-speed train to Huanglong Jiuzhai Railway Station. Sit back and enjoy a comfortable journey as the train travels through Sichuan's picturesque countryside, passing rolling hills, lush forests, and dramatic mountain scenery before arriving at the gateway to Jiuzhaigou. 

Upon arrival, meet your local guide and continue by private vehicle to Jiuzhaigou, one of China's most celebrated natural wonders. Along the way, admire the beautiful alpine landscapes and fresh mountain air as you make your way towards the scenic valley.

After checking in at your hotel near the entrance to Jiuzhaigou National Park, the remainder of the day is free for you to relax and acclimatise to the higher elevation before tomorrow's full-day exploration. You may take a leisurely stroll around the surrounding area, enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere, or simply unwind at the hotel.

Huanglong Scenic Area & Return to Chengdu

After breakfast, depart Jiuzhaigou and travel to the spectacular Huanglong Scenic Area, another UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its colourful travertine terraces, crystal-clear mineral pools, and breathtaking alpine scenery. Set amidst forested mountains, Huanglong is often referred to as the "Fairyland on Earth" for its extraordinary natural beauty. 

Explore the scenic area along well-maintained boardwalks as you admire the famous Five-Color Pools, where mineral-rich waters shimmer in brilliant shades of turquoise, emerald, gold, and sapphire under the sunlight. The stepped limestone terraces, gentle streams, and surrounding snow-capped peaks create a truly unforgettable landscape and offer countless opportunities for stunning photographs.

After enjoying a Chinese lunch, transfer to Huanglong Jiuzhai Railway Station and board the first-class high-speed train back to Chengdu. Relax as you journey through the picturesque mountain landscapes of northern Sichuan before arriving in the provincial capital, where your guide will transfer you to the hotel.

You may choose to wander through the lively Chunxi Road shopping district, visit the stylish Taikoo Li complex for boutique shopping and cafés, or stop by the iconic IFS Panda sculpture for memorable photos. For those interested in history and culture, Jinli Ancient Street offers traditional architecture, local handicrafts, and an array of authentic Sichuan snacks.

Food lovers can indulge in Chengdu's famous cuisine, whether it's a steaming Sichuan hotpot, spicy street food, or a relaxing afternoon in one of the city's traditional teahouses. Alternatively, simply enjoy a leisurely day soaking up the laid-back lifestyle that has made Chengdu one of China's most liveable cities.
