Itinerary
Day 1: New Chitose → Lake Shikotsu → Lake Toya
Destinations: Lake Shikotsu cruise, Lake Toya, Usu Volcano Ropeway.
Begin your journey at Lake Shikotsu, a crystal-clear caldera lake known for its deep blue waters and scenic boat cruises. Continue to Lake Toya, where the still waters reflect the surrounding volcanic peaks. Take a thrilling ride up the Usu Volcano Ropeway for panoramic views of the lake and Mount Showa-Shinzan.
Hidden Gems: Foot baths along Toyako Onsen streets.
Stroll through Toyako Onsen’s lakeside streets and dip your feet in the relaxing natural foot baths while enjoying views of the water and mountains.

Day 2: Lake Toya → Noboribetsu → Furano
Destinations: Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley), Furano flower fields.
Journey to Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley), where steam vents and bubbling pools paint a surreal volcanic landscape. Then, drive north to Furano, famed for its sprawling flower fields and seasonal beauty.

Day 4: Asahikawa → Sounkyo Gorge

Explore the dramatic Sounkyo Gorge, framed by rugged cliffs and cascading waterfalls. Take the Sounkyo Ropeway up Mount Kurodake for breathtaking alpine views, and hike through Daisetsuzan National Park, Japan’s largest protected wilderness.

Day 5: Sounkyo → Abashiri → Shiretoko

Visit Abashiri’s Drift Ice Museum to learn about the Sea of Okhotsk’s icy wonders, then continue to the pristine wilderness of Shiretoko National Park. Explore the Shiretoko Five Lakes and take a whale-watching cruise from Rausu to see orcas and dolphins.
