Itinerary
Day 1: Colombo – Anuradhapura (Approx. 4.5 hrs drive)
Arrive at Colombo Airport and meet your local representative before proceeding to Anuradhapura, the cradle of Sri Lanka’s Buddhist civilisation. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and begin your Anuradhapura city tour. Explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site, once the capital and spiritual heart of Sri Lanka. Visit the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, a sapling from the original tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment — the oldest historically recorded tree in the world. Continue to the magnificent Ruwanwelisaya Stupa and other ancient monuments including Thuparama, Abhayagiriya, and Jetavanarama, each echoing centuries of Buddhist devotion. Dinner & Overnight stay in Anuradhapura.
Day 2: Anuradhapura – Sigiriya (Approx. 4 hrs drive)
After breakfast, journey to Sigiriya, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. In the evening, climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s greatest archaeological marvels. Often called the “Lion Rock,” this 5th-century citadel rises 500 feet above the plains. Explore its frescoes of celestial maidens, ancient gardens, and the ruins of King Kashyapa’s royal palace atop the summit — a breathtaking blend of nature and art. Dinner & Overnight stay in Dambulla.
Day 3: Dambulla – Matale – Kandy (Approx. 3 hrs drive)
After breakfast, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, Sri Lanka’s largest and best-preserved cave temple complex. Wander through five sacred caves adorned with over 150 Buddha statues, murals, and intricate ceiling paintings. Continue to Matale to visit a spice garden where you’ll experience the island’s famous spices — cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and more — in their natural form. Stop by the Gem Gallery in Kandy before heading to the hill capital. After lunch at a local restaurant, embark on a city tour of Kandy, home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism’s most venerated shrines. Visit Kandy Lake, the scenic viewpoint, and enjoy a traditional cultural dance performance showcasing Sri Lanka’s rhythmic drumming and graceful movements. Check in at your hotel and relax. Dinner & Overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 4: Kandy – Colombo – Airport (Approx. 4 hrs drive)
After breakfast, travel to Colombo for a guided city tour. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before exploring Sri Lanka’s bustling capital — a dynamic mix of heritage and modernity. Visit Pettah Bazaar, Fort District, Galle Face Green, the Old Parliament Building, and Seema Malaka Temple by Geoffrey Bawa. Drive through Cinnamon Gardens and discover the city’s many shopping hubs such as ODEL, Liberty Plaza, and Majestic City. Enjoy your last evening in Colombo before transferring to the airport for your departure flight, taking with you cherished memories of Sri Lanka’s spiritual and cultural heart.
