Mark Your Calendar: The Geminids Meteor Shower (subject to weather conditions)
Stargazing enthusiasts, get ready for a treat! The Geminids, peaking around December 13-14, are known for their brilliance and high rates. But their origin is what truly sets them apart: these shooting stars come from an asteroid, a "rock comet"! Witness this extraordinary phenomenon – up to 120 meteors per hour under dark skies.

Description

Discover a true sanctuary for the soul in the majestic Himalayas.

Embark on a mesmerizing 7-day winter journey through Bhutan, where the stunning landscapes and crisp, clear skies create the perfect canvas for stargazing and nightfall photography.

The Geminids are often called the “king” of annual meteor showers. They peak every December and are known for:

  • Brightness: Many Geminid meteors are vivid and colorful, often appearing white, yellow, or even greenish.

  • Frequency: At their peak, under dark skies, you can see up to 100–150 meteors per hour.

  • Reliability: Unlike some showers that vary, the Geminids are consistent year after year.

  • Source: They’re unusual because they come not from a comet, but from an asteroid-like body called 3200 Phaethon.

The Dochula Druk Wangyel Festival, held each December at the stunning Dochula Pass, is a unique cultural celebration performed exclusively by the Royal Bhutan Army. Set against the snowcapped Himalayas, the festival features sacred mask dances and vibrant performances that honour Bhutan’s heritage while showcasing the deep devotion of its guardians.

Bhutan's Celestial Messengers
The Black-necked Crane, a majestic avian visitor to Bhutan, are believed to bring good fortune, promising bountiful harvests and peace for all

This journey will appeal to you if you're seeking peace, mindfulness, and a deep connection with both cultural and cosmic wonder.
