Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Arrive at Chinggis Khaan International Airport in the early hours and be warmly welcomed by your guide. Drive into the capital where the city lights glow against the winter night sky. After check-in at your 4-star hotel, enjoy a well-deserved rest to prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Ulaanbaatar City Tour
Begin your journey with a stroll through Sukhbaatar Square, the beating heart of the city framed by grand government buildings and statues of Mongolia’s heroes. Visit the Gandan Buddhist Monastery, home to a towering golden Buddha and a centre of spiritual life in the capital. After lunch, delve into history at the Chinggis Khaan Museum, bringing to life the Mongol Empire’s fascinating past. End your day with dinner and return to your hotel for the night.
Day 3: Journey to Karakorum
Drive across endless winter steppes to Karakorum, the fabled ancient capital of the Mongols. Along the way, stop at the mini sand dunes, where you’ll be welcomed by a camel herder family. Here, experience a memorable ride on a Bactrian camel, a two-humped icon of the desert. Continue to Karakorum, check into your local hotel and rest after your journey.
Day 4: Explore Karakorum’s Legacy
Step back in time as you wander through the sacred grounds of Erdenezuu Monastery, Mongolia’s first Buddhist monastery built from the ruins of Genghis Khan’s capital. Visit the Karakorum Museum to uncover artefacts and relics of the empire’s golden age. Later, head to Khaadiin Khaad Hill for panoramic views of the frozen valley, before returning to your hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 5: Karakorum – Hustai National Park – Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, revisit the Karakorum Museum before driving to Hustai National Park, home of the rare Przewalski’s horse (Takhi), the last remaining species of truly wild horse. Learn about conservation efforts through a short documentary before seeing the horses roaming the steppe. After dinner at a camp, return to Ulaanbaatar and recheck into your hotel.
Day 6: Terelj National Park Adventure
Begin the day at the imposing Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex, the world’s largest equestrian statue rising 40 metres into the sky. Climb inside for a panoramic view before continuing to Terelj National Park. After lunch, admire the iconic Turtle Rock and take part in an unforgettable dog sledding adventure across frozen rivers and valleys. Settle into your ger camp resort for dinner and a cosy evening surrounded by Mongolia’s winter stillness.
Day 7: Nomadic Traditions & Winter Sports
Spend the morning with a nomadic family, gaining insight into their resilient way of life before setting out on horseback across the snowy steppe. After lunch, continue to one of Mongolia’s biggest ski resorts where you can choose between skiing, snowboarding, or tubing down the slopes. Before returning to the city, stop for some last-minute shopping at the State Department Store, then gather for a farewell dinner celebrating your Mongolian adventure. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 8: Departure
Enjoy your final breakfast before transferring to Chinggis Khaan International Airport. Bid farewell to Mongolia’s winter wonderland, carrying home memories of snow, culture, and adventure.
